Rain, rain, go away.....

The weather in Geneva was great for weeks, and we had some great days during practice and our exhibitions, but as soon as the season started…RAIN! It looks like we are in for a cooler few weeks, and better weather, but the past week ahs been a washout. Last night’s game vs. Alfred was called early in the morning following heavy rains that night. Today the boys travel to Hornell for an 11:00 game. I still haven’t heard if it’s on, we did have more heavy rain last night, just not sure if it hit that far south. Tomorrow night Genesee Valley comes into town for a doubleheader. Hopefully the rain stays away.

It’s tough to find things to write when nothing has happened in a few days. Maybe tomorrow will be a different story.

Opening Day Part Deux a Partial Rainout

Although yours truly was not at the game last night, I had a feeling that things were probably bad at the ball park. Again, just as the day before, the skies opened up and it POURED! Knowing the conditions of the field from the night before, I had a feeling that was going to be the end of the game. Sure enough when I checked the scores this morning, the wings made it through just 5 ½ innings before the infield was flooded…again. I don’t have much of an update to give since I was absent last evening and some one who will remain nameless forgot to send me the scores (RYAN PEEL!). The boys travel to Scio today to face the Allegany County Nitros at 5:00. Hopefully the rains hold off today, that a long trip for naught if it rains!

Opening Day Washed Out

The much anticipated Opening Day for the 2005 Red Wings was washed out last night. It's sort of funny that we don't get any rain for three weeks, some counties are beginning to ask for water conservation, and here we are with a rainout on Opening Day. It rained very hard for about 20 minutes about 4 hours before game time. That was enough to put 1st base under water and make the plate a skating rink of mud. The Wayne County Raptors come into town today for a 7:00 start, hopefully the rains will hold off for this one. The game tonight is sponsored by Gallagher's pub and the demand for tickets has been very high, so hopefully we can skip the rain, have a great crowd, and get a nice win on Opening Night!
